Project Name: Athena User Interface Project
Project Leader: Andrew Boardman
Report Date: 11 May 2001
Project URL: http://web.mit.edu/aui/notebook/

Accomplishments Past Period:
- Released Athena 9.0 alpha version, allowing general usage of the
  AUI/9.0 environment.
- Met with usability team to talk about (among other things) what they'd
like to see in future Athena releases.
- Training and Publications is now in the thick of documenting 9.0.

Goals for Next Period:
- Continue Work on the Athena 9.0 release in general. (Not, strictly
speaking, completely part of AUI, but the line is blurry, and for the
  most part immaterial.)
- Wrap up project documentation before we forget why we did everything.
- Do a final security assesment for Athena 9.0.
- Formal end of project and handoff of maintenance to Athena release team?

Key Learnings:
- Whereever you go, there you are. Deal with it.

Issues:
- AUI/Athena development suffers from more work then people to do it, and
the scope of AUI has suffered as a result. Nautilus (the GNOME file
manager) is dead in the water for 9.0, despite a great desire for it in
  many quarters.
- There are a lot of changes and a lot of new code for Athena in AUI.
We wonder how well we can test it before September.

Team Dynamics:
- OK, modulo overload from staffing issues mentioned above.
