BUG: Applets disappear from panel!

So after my session died on login with the SPARC 5, the following parts
of my panel disappeared without a trace:
Analog clock
Load indicator
Task List
Desk Guide
I'm rather nonplussed that so much stuff just goes PFFFT if I fail to
successfully log in.
