Actually, it's not clear how to best use the medusa indexer on MIT's file
system.
It's designed to run to provide fast indexed searches on files users want
to look through often. What Maciej recommends, not indexing files on AFS
will index some files, but it will index the set of local files that a
users don't really care about. It seems like the best use of the indexer
would be to be able to index individual volumes upon request, such as a
user's home directory or a locker, but as medusa's not set up to do that
right now, it'd probably be best to turn the feature off in the
MIT environment. If the AUI team is interested in working on making this
feature useful on Athena, I'd be happy to work with them, now or in the
future.
