Market Potential

Considering that there are approximately one million
people in North America living with HIV at present, a 15% market penetration
with our treatment would provide gross sales of 3.75 billion per annum. In
addition, there are approximately 3.9 million people with Hepatitis C in the
US. Treating 15% of this group would provide gross sales of 14.6 billion
per annum. There are 44,000 new cases of HIV each year, and 35,000 new cases
of Hepatitis C. Even if only 15% of new patients participated, with fees of
25,000 per patient, that would approximately 296,000,000 gross per year.

Internationally the revenue streams would differ
depending on insurance structure and economy. With an international total
approximately 40 million people living with HIV at the end of 2004, and
approximately 5 million new cases each year, there is potential of trillions
of dollar of income for this treatment.

HIV A Global Problem

AIDS has killed over 30 million people to date. AT the
end of 2004, there were an estimated 40 million people living with HIV, with
almost 5 million new cases worldwide each year. Global deaths due to AIDS in
2004 were approximately 3.1 million, with the majority being in Sub-Saharan
Africa. Foe over a decade, the treatment for AIDS had improved life
expectancy of infected individuals; however, a cure has yet to be found. The
mainstream treatments available for AIDS are pharmaceutical in nature and
involve multiple medications for the balance of the people’s life. The
average annual cost for AIDS medications in the US is close to 30,000 per
year. These medications are difficult to obtain for individuals without
health insurance or Medicaid in this country, and are prohibitively
expensive or altogether unavailable in most underdeveloped countries.
Accessibility to medication remains a humanitarian issue for many companies,
Agencies and governments.

Most medications used to treat HIV fall into four
categories. Protease Inhibitors (Pls), Nucleoside/nucleotide Reverse
Transcriptase Inhibitors (NRTls), Non-nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase
Inhibitors (NNRTIs), and Entry Inhibitors. The newest category of drug is
the Entry Inhibitors, which includes Trimeris drug Fuzeon. Fuzeon acts on
cellular membranes to prevent entry of the HIV virus to the CD4 T-cell. This
is a principal similar to that involved in Deep Blue’s hyperbaric treatment;
one of the effects of which is to strengthen the cellular membrane to
prevent attachment and entry of the viral genome into the cell. Fuzeon is
only available as subcutaneous injection used twice daily. Long term effects
are not yet known.

There are several problems with current treatment
modalities of HIV infection. First, the medications do not cure the disease.
Indeed, some of the side effects of the medications are severely
debilitating and complicate the already-compromised health of these
individuals. Second, the usual treatment regime can include up to the thirty
pills daily, which must be taken under varied conditions, at set individuals
, and in certain combinations or they are ineffective. Deviations from the
schedule may result in mutations of the virus, which will then not respond
to the medications, increasing the illness of the person. Third, the cost of
the medications in the US is quite high: if the patient takes Fuzeon, it can
be as much as 40,000 per year. Some patients without insurance may obtain
the medications through costly government programs; those insurance who do
not qualify for the programs are generally unable to treated for the
disease.

Hepatitis C is another intractable disease. There are
treatments available yet no cure. At present, there are approximately 3.9
million people in the US with the disease, many of whom are not aware that
they have been infected. Each year there are an estimated 35,000 new cases
in the US, and approximately 8.000 to 10.000 deaths. There are approximately
170 million people worldwide with Hepatitis C. There is no vaccine again
Hepatitis C. Current treatment is with interferon and medications which
complement its effects. The cost for a typical 12 month treatment in the US
is approximately 40,000.

There are currently 1.3 Medicare-approved uses for
hyperbaric medicine, including nitrogen narcosis, diabetic wound care and
burn care. The majority of hyperbaric chambers in the US and Canada
currently in use are utilized for high volume wound are treatment. Hence,
Deep Blue benefits from a first-mover advantage in the realm of its
hyperbaric treatment and its presented pending technology.
