Your first question is a good question about Evolution in general
(because it has calendaring stuff in addition to mail), and I'll let
someone with Helixcode connections answer it.
For mail, though, I'll note that in the long run we'd like to have
users using IMAP mail stores by default (hopefully with Kerberos 5, if
we can get support for that on the IMAP servers, but Kerberos 4 will
do in a pinch). The network group seems okay with this idea. Then we
just need good command-line IMAP mail tools in addition to whatever
whizzy graphical IMAP mail application we have. And we don't
particularly need an MH mail store in our whizzy graphical mail
application, although we will need a transition path for existing MH
users.
