Mails such as this are intolerable. Something containing as many
technical details as this must be correct, lest we embarrass
ourselves. The best way to do this is to send it to the list *before*
being sent to outsiders. If there is a time crunch then you can
find people individually to review it.
Specifically, neither I nor yak (nor anyone else on this list, to my
knowledge) fully understands the gdk color system. Thus all statements
about what colors the designers should be using are possibly/likely
wrong.
I am trying to find enlightenment with gdk tonight. Please send mail
to the graphic designers telling them to disregard your mail. I will
come up with as much technical detail as I can tonight, and tomorrow
we can see if we have enough to get in contact with them.

I have reconsidered the idea of making icons with text labels. This
solution is actually quite inferior, and will actually use staff
resources. Thus we should avoid it until I have a chance to try to
make automatic labels work.
