Good start. A couple comments:

Now that your thinking is preserved, give serious consideration to
pouring plastic over your doc, and focusing on other more important
projects.
Clearly preserving these ideas was urgent and important, but now
other priorities may be higher.

I believe that the majority of zephyr users have no clue what "class"
and "instance" are all about. Perhaps a sender interface that continues
not to require users to understand those things would be appropriate.

From ICQ, I suggest a reasonably high priority feature: a single click Reply.
Add a reply button to the one-window-per-message interface. Other
apporopriate buttons can be added to the other interfaces.

Not having seen a receive interface with file tabs per conversation, I
don't know if I'm suggesting the obvious but: When a new message comes
in, have the tab show that that conversation wants attention through
some sort of highlighting. (PLEASE no blinkies. A color or font change
should be fine.)
