Under Linux-Athena 8.3.31 on No-Whammies, the Sawfish capplet froze in
such a way that cripples the entire machine to the point where top and
ps and ls all generate segfaults immediately, and various programs
crash and complain about being unable to find shared libraries. It
might be because it somehow spawns too many processes? The machine
then must be rebooted, which takes forever in that condition. The
problem did (thankfully) go away when I upgraded to 8.4.4.

I guess people won't be able to run Gnome on older Athena releases
anyway (at least not unless they install Gnome themselves and start it
from the command line) so maybe we don't have to worry about bug
testing on older platforms. (Hopefully this will also encourage
people to upgrade their systems.)

But maybe this was tickling some underlying bug in Sawfish, so I
thought I'd make a report.

Lesson of the day: Bleeding-edge software can be good for you. 8)
