So I traced the xscreensaver errors that the Gnome User gets on login
to the fact that the commands "xscreensaver" "xscreensaver-command"
and "xscreensaver-button" are hard-coded into the panel. On Athena,
these are called xss-*. It seems to me it would be better to make
symlinks from xscreensaver to xss than to change the source. But,
then again, if these names are different to avoid confusion between
Athenized and non-Athenized versions, it would be better to change the
source.

Either wouldn't take very long. What's the Right Thing to do?

Of course, the optimal thing would be for these command calls to be
settable by a config file instead of being hard-coded. I don't know
how critical the specific behavior of xscreensaver is to the panel.
