Beland's mail about the printer applet brings up an interesting point.
He suggested that we put a drag-and-drop printer icon on the desktop.
It is my opinion that the default configuration should not have desktop
icons at all. I think we would be much better off if we place what
would be the default icons somewhere in the panel. In the panel, there
could be an icon for the default printer, an icon for the user's home
directory, an icon for "/", etc. This has the advantage that it will
not allow icons to get covered up by windows, and will not lead to the
abominable clutter that Win9x has. Users have a propper home directory,
which will go a long way towards eliminating the tendency to store things
on the desktop permanently.
