So at various people's request, I've translated the Discovery Project
documents and updated tibbetts' status page, combining them into a
single chart. Please see
http://web.mit.edu/aui/notebook/components.html and send mail if
anything seems out of whack, you would like the listed priorities
changed, if you would like me to clarify on any of the items, etc.
Comments on specifics (and generalities) are welcome, and will most
likely be incorporated into the chart if they are relevant.
(The chart is limited by my lack of clue on things that I'm not
working on. Plus, the AUI discuss meeting is tracking some of the
nitty-gritty of various things...let me know if any back messages
should be added to the chart like tibbetts did with his listing.)
I'm going to use this to keep track of my personal status; hopefully
others will use it too, thus helping along group memory and
communication. (I created it in Star Office for testing purposes, but
it should be easily HTML-editable. Hmm...maybe we should apply RCS or
CVS or something to it.)
Anyway, I'm going to move from component to component here and address
UI planning and evaluation issues, especially on things no one else is
working on. I've already got a Gnome-Athena printing system draft;
I'll send that out shortly. My next projects will be:
- Draft gzephyr design
- Evaluate gOLC
- Triage dotfile configuration questions
I will be prompting discussions on various chart items over this list
as I finish draft designs for component UIs, and when major decisions
about design choices or project goals need to be made. (Some are
already noted on the chart.)
Thanks,
Beland
