historical note: I believe one of the reasons we didn't do this initially
was fear of data loss (which could just be someone starts to send an email
message and it gets longer than they expected). This is not an objection,
but if a strongly worded warning appeared a minute or two before the
logout that would be clever (and I don't know that one doesn't).
