Sorry for the delayed response.
The 'MIT Software' menu is part of the debathena-locker-menu package,
which should get pulled in automatically as a dependency of
debathena-login-graphical (if you have that metapackage installed).
The output of 'dpkg -l debathena-locker-menu' will tell us if you have
that package installed; if you do, then we can look more closely to see
why it is not working for you.
