Dear Miguel,
With your machine already in a probably-corrupt state due to the failed
upgrade, it would probably be pretty painful to recover.
The best I could come up with would be to try and look at the apt{,itude}
logs to attempt to see what exactly was or was not done during the course
of the transaction, and deduce what went wrong from there. But that would
be very time consuming and unfeasible to do via email.
