I tried this on native Ubuntu Intrepid, and it works, but a few details
have changed.  The "add address book" window looks a little different
(but has the same fields once you select LDAP) and the preferences
window is accessed through edit->preferences instead of tools->settings.

The autocompletion delay can be pretty significant in some cases, maybe
15s or so.
