I got this dialog box <<END

Your Firefox profile directory is locked by process 11859
  on this machine.

If you select "OK" to continue, the profile will be
forcibly
unlocked; if the process holding the lock is still
running,
  you risk corrupting your profile.

If you are not certain whether your Firefox process is
still
running on this machine, select "Cancel" to exit
  without starting Firefox.

END

This dialog box only has an OK button and no "Cancel" button
(as referred to in the text).

Incidentally, I reached this dialog by selecting "Open Link"
from gnome-terminal.
