Alas, I have no clue.

I merely ran the two commands in the script:
	userdel wdc
	useradd wdc admin
when the second command failed, I ran
	useradd wdc
That seemed to recover my old local account information sorta kinda.

I can login from the login screen, but my prompt is "$" and my  
homedir is /home/wdc.

By the way, here's another amendment to the instructions:

You need to reboot before you see the Athena10 login screen.  If  
you've installed workstation and get the stock ubuntu login, the  
install did not complete.
