I personally use the Media Lab mirror on several machines; it hasn't
been down in a way that I've noticed for at least 6 months.
I know the admin, too. Last I checked, the server hosting it was just
sitting in his office for a while, but plans were in the works to get it
a more permanent home. That may have happened already; saying that
Athena 10 was recommending it as a mirror would definitely bump it up on
the priority list.
I can check on anything else about it if necessary.
(/me wonders why Ubuntu isn't just using bittorrent or the like... or
implement fallback mirrors cleanly.)
