Thanks, that worked.
Interestingly, just now (5 min ago) it started working again without aklog.
I thought maybe it did so because of tickets lying around from running
'aklog' on a previous login. So I ran 'kdestroy' on both linerva and my
laptop -- if I understood the Kerberos model at all, I would have known
which one to run it on -- then ran kinit on my laptop to get a new
ticket, and 'ssh linux' worked fine!
