I can draw a 'euphoric warmth' into my body straight from thin air.
It=E2=80=99s the same euphoria you feel after a good workout=2C known as a=
runner's high. As you are well aware=2C this sweet=2C tingly warmth isn't=
just your body heating up from exercise=E2=80=94 it's a wave of joy and e=
nergy that starts in your chest and spreads through your whole body=2C lif=
ting your spirits.
We actually feel different versions of this warmth in all sorts of happy m=
oments: soaking up the sunshine=2C hugging someone we love=2C or being blo=
wn away by an amazing piece of art. In this preface=2C I'll show how these=
seemingly unrelated experiences are actually different forms of the same=
thing=E2=80=94 all originating from a single source: God. Surprisingly=2C=
everything that makes life breathtakingly beautiful and gives us goosebum=
ps can be traced all the way back to before the Big Bang. However=2C this=
profound existential insight is not going to be the book's most crucial a=
spect. What's really fascinating is that even while perfectly still in a d=
ark and freezing room=2C without any external stimuli or another person=2C=
I can generate this same blissful warmth within a few breaths.
You might've heard about monks who can sit on ice for hours without gettin=
g cold. Well=2C this isn't some superhuman ability=E2=80=94 it's the power=
of true meditation=2C way beyond anything you'll get from a meditation ap=
p. That's the reason why monks often choose to be alone: to fully experien=
ce this nourishing energy and lose themselves in it for days on end. But I=
believe there's a touch of selfishness in keeping this to themselves. Thi=
s warmth should be shared and turned into something even greater.
So=2C in my part of the story=2C I'm sending this book to all of you for f=
ree=2C where I explain everything as clearly and simply as I can=E2=80=94=
from how these experiences connect to God=2C to how you can tap into this=
cosmic source of joy yourself.
