I explicitly checked each LDAP server.

Win.mit.edu does know Moira group IDs.
Win.mit.edu does require a Kerberized connection.
Ldap.mit.edu does not know Moira group IDs.
Ldap.mit.edu does not require a Kerberized connection.

I'm trying to provide information without providing opinion, but I think
Mitch's concern about "whether the various LDAP domains would be willing to
change their promised support levels" is well placed.
