Hi everybody -
At the end of April, we will be refocusing the debathena-workstation
meta-package to bring it more in line with the configuration of the
Debathena cluster workstations currently in testing around campus.
This will include, among other features, automatically installed
updates, a local caching nameserver, support for Hesiod cluster
information, NTP or Chrony clock syncing, the /tmp cleaner, redirection
of some syslog entries to the Athena-wide syslog server, and
metapackages which include the standard set of software installed
locally on cluster machines (the debathena-extra-software metapackage).
The current debathena-workstation package is being renamed to
debathena-login-graphical. If you want to keep the current behavior, you
should uninstall the debathena-workstation package and be sure to mark
debathena-login-graphical as manually installed. The following should do
that:
aptitude install debathena-workstation- debathena-login-graphical+
We will be changing the dependencies of debathena-workstation sometime
on or after April 30th, so be sure to adjust your package manager by then.
