Hi,
I'm one of the maintainers of linux.mit.edu (or linerva.mit.edu). I
heard from one of your students that you've been having persistent
problems in the class with hosting subversion repositories in AFS and
getting "permission denied" error in unexpected placed.
I'm writing to let you know that as of last weekend, we've upgraded
Linerva, including an upgrade to OpenAFS 1.4.8, which is believed to
fix the subversion/AFS interaction. So, it should now be possible to
just recommend that your students use linux.mit.edu to check out their
subversion repositories, and hopefully you will not have to worry
about this issue any more.
That said, if you do hear reports of the bug striking again on
Linerva, please let me know, and I will pass the information along to
the OpenAFS developers.
(If you're curious, the ticket documenting the bug in OpenAFS and
efforts to track it down is at
http://rt.central.org/rt/Ticket/Display.html?id=74672)
