The 16.04 build has existed for quite a while, but we only got through
with the preliminary bug squashing a couple months ago.
SIPB has been running debathena-workstation for 16.04 on several of
our office workstations, and it seems to be working just fine.
debathena-cluster, of course, is entirely untested.
