debathena-afuse-config will probably conflict with
debathena-autofs-config, so that will get uninstalled; the change in
what's running will probably take effect on the next reboot.
The package name will probably change since it's not actually a config
package, which is one reason I've not uploaded it to the repository. We
should get more data before we decide what to do in the long run (I have a
vague feeling that the afuse solution has worse performance, but all
numerical tests I've done show no change). The options are basically (A)
replace debathena-autofs-config with (debathena-autofs-config |
debathena-afuse-config) everywhere (in some order), and (B) replace
debathena-autofs-config with debathena-afuse-config entirely. The
decision will probably depend on whether we can demonstrate any
performance impact or other problems with the afuse solution.
If you want to beta test, you can dpkg -i the package from
/mit/debathena/, but don't blame me if this leaves you with a
non-automatic upgrade path when we rename the package.
