Just wanted to make people aware of this commit. We may want to do
something the packages that don't exist, i.e., jikes-gij and g77, such as
get them re-included in Jaunty for the summer release (and then
backported to Intrepid if we care enough), or make sure the locker
versions work, or intentionally decide that we don't care.
Relatedly, libctl-dev wants to bring in guile-1.6-dev instead of
guile-1.8-dev, and thus doesn't currently get installed. If we can punt it
(or, of course, get Ubuntu to rebuild it against guile-1.8-dev), that gets
rid of another conflict.
I uploaded my commit to -proposed. Once we deal with libctl-dev, then
debathena-thirdparty installs with no dependency conflicts.
It does have some unsatisfied dependencies that are upstream bugs, though.
Evan has filed a Launchpad bug about mit-scheme (#339449) that has a patch
to make it installable, and according to zephyr he intends the patch to
get through quickly.
Launchpad bug #287166 vaguely mumbles about the libhugs-openal-bundled
issue, but doesn't actually say how to address it. I do find it amusing
that hugs by itself on a stock Ubuntu system doesn't get all its
dependencies satisfied; I might file a bug if I figure out how to address
this.
LP #285343 talks about curl's ca-certificate vs. ca-certificates typo; we
should get the Jaunty fix backported into intrepid.

Log:
debathena-thirdparty: Clean up the dependencies some.
Namely,
- Punt libitpp-doc because it brings in apache2 (by recommending dwww).
- Punt the virtual package "guile" because it seems to prefer guile-1.6 over
guile-1.8, and we explicitly depend on guile-1.8 anyway.
- Punt the missing package g77 in favor of gfortran -- which is, admittedly,
Fortran 95.
- Punt the missing package jikes-gij.
