Wit climatechange.mit.edu being a thing (http://climatechange.mit.edu
/turn-lightscomputers-night) we should re-investigate putting idle cluster
machines to sleep. Since CrashPlan is a thing too, expeanding to private
workstations may also be possible, though it may not be the lowest hanging
fruit.
Policy questions include: Do we need to wake the machines up at a certain
time in the morning, so that they are up when ACIS/hotline checks in on
them, and so they have a shot at running an overnight update cron job?
