Hi Everyone,

I called four different vendors to get pricing information on Exabyte tape
drives with an attached "stacker" to allow automatic feeding of tapes into
the drive. The 8505XL is Exabyte's latest model, so this will be a good one
for us to work with in the project (that is, since it's new, it's probably got
at least a 3-year future). I have all the info that the vendors faxed me,
but to summarize:

	Vendor Price Comment
	=============	=======		==================================
r-squared	$ 6,625 This is the lowest price, for an
					Exabyte 8505XL
Falcon 6,992 This is for an Exabyte 8505XL
Cont. Cyber. 7,490 This is for an Exabyte 8505, with a
					fancy display

The Exabyte EXB-210 is a cabinet holding an 8505XL tape drive (it's possible
to add a second tape drive), and a stacker to hold 10 tapes. The 8505XL can
write up to 7GB of data per tape, and is compatible with the 8500 series
(so it can read tapes written on our current tape drives). R-squared is a
reliable vendor we've dealt with in the past, and this system comes with
a 1-year warrenty on the stacker, a 2-year warrenty on the tape drive.
If anyone wants additional info, just let me know. Tim, if you give me a
go-ahead, I'll order one for us.
