Subject: Oracle Presentation Coordinated by ASD
Since the future direction of Ingres and its parent company, Computer
Associates, are unclear, it is important that we begin to consider other
database vendors. In order to better understand our options, we have
arranged for technical presentations by both Oracle and Sybase.
Steve Illingworth of Oracle Corp. will provide a technical update on
Thursday, September 29, 1994 from 2 - 4 pm at the ACS Visitor Center,
E40-302. Steve will be responding to a specific set of questions
formulated by the ASD Database Services Group, concentrating on the MIT
environment and the migration issues we would face. We are in the
process of booking a time and date for Sybase and will make an
announcement soon.
Please respond to Ken Higgins by mail if you do NOT
plan to attend.
