1/25/96
brief talk about the statement of purpose for the system
Do we want to do an alpha test, so syssupport can get an idea of how
things work. Yeah, probably. We expect this to be done on some of
the abs zone and rel-eng cells. Some brief docs should be supplied,
but not a lot should be needed. Diane guesses that htis is likely to
happen in a mid Feb. timeframe.
Toto will be upgraded to a DECstation.
crippled mode:
We must acccept the fact that when we are in crippled mode (and
loading backups made in crippled mode into the DB) we are more
vulnerable to stupid users destroying data.
how do we pick tape labels
internal: include timestamp and indicator that it was a 'cripple' tape.
external: we will have to place new external labels on a tape
if there is a conflict.
How do we load these tapes into the database. We require that there
be a tool to load the output of a tape scan into the DB. In cripple
mode the dump should keep a log that can be loaded into the DB. It
may be easiest for this to be in the same format as the output of tape
scan. These should both be ascii, and in a documented format. Diane
has been given some ideas on the actual format.
Error Routing
Several people haven't looked at this yet.
keep the categorization simple
Agenda for next week:
wdc will have Jeff's comments on the reqs.
Diane will hand out some more code to review
jweiss will have cripple mode docs
We are back at 3PM next week.
