Have you actually tried out cfront or gcc2 on the rs6000? I don't do
enough development work at Athena (in any language) to be able to judge
whether it works, but it seemed to work okay for cfront itself and its
library and test programs.
I disagree with several of your other reasons as well, but this isn't
the place to discuss it.
I have some incomplete code which ought to help with server memory
use; when we get around to bringing up Zephyr at Cygnus, I'll probably
complete it and send it back.
