It may not scale, but you'd be amazed how fast you can finger a thousand
workstations if you code things right.... unfortunately, the day this
technology becomes generally available would probably be the day that
the MIT Privacy Committee forces us to shutdown the finger port ---
which would be a shame, since being able to finger a workstation is such
a useful thing.
(Yes, I mean it's useful for things *other* than being able to violate
someone's privacy by figuring out where they're logged in even if they
don't want people to find out. :-)
