To my knowledge, no one has yet looked into using alternative RPC
protocols, such as SUN RPC or NCS, with Zephyr. As soon as we get
another version distributed (with bugfixes and optimizations, mostly),
we'll be looking at revising the design, including the protocol we
use. The issues you mention:
> - effect of rpc on queue management at host manager and server.
> - separation of user location data base and subscription service
> from the notification server.
> - the need for acknowledgements with connection oriented rpc, as
> opposed to udp.
are among those I would like to look at when we do so.
When we've got something written up, we'll be announcing it to the
list zephyr@mit.edu to get comments. Would you like to be added to
this list?
