In addition to zwgc.el (which John Carr told you about), there is a
program called 'xzwrite' on the sipb filesystem.  It maintains a list
of people you commonly zwrite to, allows you to enter messages in a
emacs-like text editor (all the common text editing functions work,
although obvious M-x commands don't), and has just about all the
options of zwrite (and some zwrite doesn't.)

To run the program, type:

attach sipb
/mit/sipb/vaxbin/xzwrite		(or rtbin)

There is a man page for the program; to see it, type:

man -M /mit/sipb/man xzwrite
