If we are going to make zwrite do signatures properly in the next
release, and I think we should, I see it as a very small problem that
users with their own .zephyr.desc files will see the From: and the
signature on a separate line.
It won't detract any from the information content of the message, and,
if anything, will let those users know that something has changed and
they should find out what the story is and modify their .zephyr.desc
files entirely.
Alternatively, you can just punt the "From: " entirely and just put
the signature into that field. People without .zephyr.desc files will
see it properly because the default zephyr.desc file will process it
and place it in some neat way in the message, and people with their
own .zephyr.desc files will see it on a line by itself.
Or, as I believe I mentioned before, you can make the signature field
part of the header, which won't screw anybody up -- people with their
own .zephyr.desc files will just stop seeing the signature lines until
they fix their .zephyr.desc to process them properly.
No matter what you do, the appearance of zephyr messages with
signatures in them is going to have to appear different for
*somebody*. I should think that it should appear different to people
with customized .zephyr.desc files if it has to appear different to
somebody, because they already have some experience with customization
and might even realize that something is different.
