If you compile without Kerberos support, zephyr uses a privileged port
for the brain dump between servers (no, this wasn't my idea). I can
imagine the servers functioning mostly okay if you ran them as some
user other than root, with the exception of the brain dump not
working.
If you're running zephyrd as root, say so and I'll try to reproduce
the problem here.
