Emergent Assistance Needed to Relieve Taiwan People from Disasters

Dear friends,

As a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational foundation in USA, the World Hongming Foundation would like to
invite you to help the victims of the underlying calamity. Taiwan people have been suffering a widespread
disaster caused by storm since July 1, 2004.

Tens of people have been killed, and thousands of people became homeless. Many factories and public
facilities were completely destroyed. The estimated loss is over $10 billions.

"I want to cry but I have no tears. I have not seen such serious flooding," a man living in the
mountainous county of Nantou told cable news network ETTV in front of his home which was covered by a
thick layer of yellow mud.

"The rain came fast and heavy, sweeping away cars and motorcycles and flooding streets. It's really
bad," said another villager.

Early this month, a typhoon lashed heavy rain over Taiwan, triggering widespread flooding. Persistent rain
caused landslides and mudslides in the mountainous regions in the center and south of the Taiwan Island.
Heavy downpours flooded streets in many parts of the island, submerging cars and forcing thousands to
evacuate their homes. Power was cut to more than 80,000 households.

At the same time, the Central Weather Bureau of Taiwan warned of more torrential rain in the next few
days.

Typhoon Toraji killed 200 people in Taiwan in 2001. A few months later, Typhoon Nari caused Taipei's
worst flooding on record and killed 100.

Now emergent assistance is needed. Your donation will be tax-deductible! Any donation please make
payable to:
