The zwgc.desc in question looks like this:
#ifdef COLOR
zwgc.style.login*background: LawnGreen
zwgc.style.login*foreground: black
zwgc.style.message.personal*background: white
zwgc.style.message.apo*background: LightBlue
zwgc.style.valley*foreground: white
zwgc.style.valley*background: black
#endif
I suspect removing it will make the problem go away, but, um, that's just
a hunch.
