Is any current work being done on the Zephyr project? Has work on
the project been picked up by any non-MIT entity? Zephyr has
great potential, however it's not really able to be compiled at
any non-MIT site without major surgery on the source tree. I
finally got it to compile under Linux and SunOS platforms after
rewriting all the Makefiles from scratch. It would be nice if
a zephyr package was available that was portable between platforms,
perhaps using GNU's autoconf program. We hope to implement Zephyr
here at Mississippi State University, but with the work involved
in compiling Zephyr for the various platforms, it is very
discouraging.

If a group wanted to put forth the effort needed to "autoconf"
the Zephyr code and clean up the source tree, would the modified
package be redistributable under whatever copyright Zephyr has?

Thanks for your time.
