Howdy!
This is Jon Monsarrat writing to you from Brown University. As a former
MIT student, I can hardly help but want Zephyr installed here at our site.
I got a copy of the program:
Zephyr version 8.31 from athena-dist.mit.edu
along with some email date 10/26/92 from lucien@watson.ibm.com which
had some modifications.
I'm trying to run the version of the program that does not involve
Kerberos, Hesiod, or setuid root.
I seem to have made all the right files... finally, it compiles.
Now, I would like to test the program before asking the staff to
install it. I have no root privileges here, so this is all from user
mode.
As far as I can tell from the installation docs, I should be able
to type
zephyrd &
zhm &
and something magic will happen. Unfortunately, both these programs
exit pretty much immediately, and I'm wondering
... duh ...
what happens now?
I'd be happy to RTFM if someone could point me to the right place.
