We are at a pivotal point in history, as propaganda and private interests flood our media and drown out the truth.
As long as corporations continue to fund the media, they will manipulate the flow of information to the majority of the population, placing high value on rhetoric, doublespeak, and the suppression of critical thought. Through tightly controlled censorship, this process systematically eliminates the public's ability to make informed decisions.
On the other hand, when journalism is funded by the people, it is a powerfully transformative tool that can create lasting social change. It is defined by transparency and accountability. It amplifies once-silenced voices and provides the information that people need in order to improve their circumstances. But this kind of journalism is only powerful when we, as individuals, act to support and protect it.

We cannot be neutral in situations of injustice and we must recognize our capacity for collective action.
