y?
We know we can't rely on most of the media to treat climate change with the=
scientific rigor or the seriousness it deserves. Many mainstream outlets h=
ave shown that they can't be trusted to report on US foreign policy, either=
.
We have no reason to believe the corporate media will hold the 2016 candida=
tes for office any more accountable than they did the last time round. They=
certainly can't be trusted to dig deep into who funds candidates, what the=
y get in return, or what obstacles to voting are being put in place. As for=
challenges to big business, mass surveillance or police brutality - forget=
about it.
In other words, the mainstream media can't be relied upon to cover any of t=
he issues that matter the most today. That's why Truthout needs to exist. W=
ith the stakes this high, it's essential that we raise the $27,000 more we =
still need in this fundraiser. Pitch in tonight to get us there - any amoun=
