t r u t h o u t | Every four years, it seems that many of the same problems=
are thrown into the public spotlight and we are left asking ourselves how =
it's possible that so little has changed. It's hard not to feel like Bill M=
urray in the movie Groundhog Day.
Take the issue of voting rights. We all remember the theft of the 2000 elec=
tion and we know the efforts that have since been made to deny people the r=
ight to vote on the basis of "voter fraud" scaremongering. Between these ne=
w restrictions, the vulnerability of electronic vote counting, and the over=
whelming influence of corporate cash, there is a very real risk of history =
repeating itself in 2016.
That's why it's essential that organizations like Truthout exist. We publis=
h articles on the issues that impact us all - before the mainstream media g=
et there and after their limited attention spans move on. We cover the hist=
orical and societal context of these problems and we examine what needs to =
be done to change them.=20
