t r u t h o u t | Tomorrow is Memorial Day. Officially, that means the Unit=
ed States will pay tribute to those who have fallen while serving in the na=
tion's armed forces. Officially, we honor their memory every year.
But when it comes to remembering the casualties of war and honoring their m=
emory, the US seems to have a bad case of amnesia. Politicians and generals=
have demonstrated time and again that they don't actually value American l=
ives - those who die in war or those who return as veterans - let alone the=
lives of all those designated as "the enemy" or acceptable collateral dama=
ge.=20
For years, thanks to funding donated by you, our readers, Truthout has soug=
ht to ensure that the casualties and survivors of wars are not forgotten, t=
hat their memory is not distorted or abused. On a daily basis, we've publis=
hed writers who've reported on and spoke out against the wars in Iraq and A=
