monstrations to highlight Walmart's poor labor practices in a Global Day of=
Action for Decent Work at Walmart. In other, more mainstream news, George =
Clooney was spotted on the set of "Downton Abbey."
You're probably wondering what on earth these two things could have in comm=
on! Well, perhaps you may be familiar with the issue of Mrs. Patmore's eye =
surgery, even if you've never watched "Downton Abbey." See, Mrs. Patmore, t=
he cook, needed corrective eye surgery - but, being a servant, couldn't aff=
ord it. Luckily, her employer took it upon himself to help her out.=20
Of course Republicans took note of this and cited the fictional and almost =
fairytale-like plotline as an example of the benevolent employer and why we=
don't need laws that protect workers' rights. Yet if that were the case, W=
almart's 2.2 million employees wouldn't need to fight for a better workplac=
e. =20
