t r u t h o u t | Working in the news industry sometimes takes its toll. Every day, I'm confronted with the reality of global inequality and injustice, and I often feel I bear the weight of the world on my shoulders.
But Truthout doesn't just report on the problems of the world; we also report on possible solutions. Sometimes that takes the form of news stories about congregations coming together to divest from fossil fuels, prisons or companies that perpetuate violent policies abroad. Sometimes it's a thought-provoking essay that offers an alternative economic model to the one currently in place. Truthout reminds me that all is not lost, and in fact, many who want a better world are actively working to make this so.
Just as I have faith in those working for a better future, I have faith in Truthout's mission. By reporting accurately on these movements for change - instead of ignoring or demonizing them as the corporate media usually does - I believe we can make a difference.
