That is what we are regretfully seeing occur in the United States. The Supreme Court has opened the gates to election-buying by the wealthiest among us; democracy now exists as a marionette show in which the rich pull the strings of power. We see a degrading political performance in Congress and state legislatures, we hear the mainstream media breathlessly speculate and gossip about politicians, but we are prohibited from seeing the script for public policy being written off-stage by corporations and Wall Street.
Truthout is an antidote to the toxic oligarchy that sows confusion among the electorate. But to act as such, to supply information that enlightens and empowers, we need your support.
