t r u t h o u t | How was your day? Did you lurch from one urgent task to a=
nother, constantly feeling behind and as if you had too much to do?

If so, you're not alone. According to a new book by reporter Brigid Schulte=
, many of us are "Overwhelmed." We work too hard, we multi-task too much an=
d we make a virtue of being too busy. It's not healthy.

It's important, though, to remember that this didn't happen by accident. Th=
e erosion of the labor movement, the elimination of so many jobs and even m=
ore job security, and the pernicious notion that we have to work ourselves =
half to death to get by, while the costs of human needs like health and edu=
cation continue to rise... All of this works very well for the people runni=
ng the show.

One of the ideas to which Truthout is committed is that we need to understa=
nd the root causes of the problems that affect our lives. Our reporting and=
analysis looks at the structures that keep so many of us struggling to sta=
y afloat and what can be done to change them.

That makes us different from almost any other site out there - and we need =
your help to stay that way, because it's not something corporate advertiser=
s are interested in funding. Can you chip in and help us raise the $40,000 =
we still need to make our budget by the end of the month? Make a tax-deduct=
ible donation tonight:

You can also donate by check, made payable to:

Thank you - any amount you can spare makes a difference!
