Like the fact that the threats posed by climate change may be even more ser=
ious than scientists already feared. Or the possibility of a new Cold War s=
purred by conflicting US and Russian ambitions for Ukraine. Or the ongoing =
dangers posed by both America's aging nuclear power plants and the nuclear =
weapons arsenal still possessed by too many nations.
It's easy to want to stick our heads in the sand when faced with challenges=
of this size and scope. At Truthout, we believe that it's necessary to fac=
e these facts, no matter how daunting.
As one of the few genuinely independent media sites out there, our duty is =
to act as an emergency broadcast network, letting people all around the pla=
net know about the biggest threats we all face.
