t r u t h o u t | In conversations (and articles, and television banter) about the state of the world today, it's common to hear reminiscences about the "good old days," when things apparently weren't as corrupt or corporate or miserable or destructive or cruel.

But was there ever really a golden age, when injustice and exploitation were not so rampant? It's all too easy for many of us to forget that when things were a little bit better for some folks, they were a whole lot worse for many, many others. At Truthout, we believe that things can get better for everyone if people work together for real progress. We believe that there are good new days ahead. And we believe that we have a role to play in the journey there.

Personally, I'm looking forward to returning to Truthout full-time next month. I'm looking forward to the stories that our new staff reporter - and old friend - Dahr Jamail is already working on. (Make sure to read his report today on the legacy of uranium mining in New Mexico!) I'm looking forward to all the great work that our team will be able to do, with your help.

But we can't get there or do any of this without you: Truthout's readers play a vital, irreplaceable role in keeping our work going. Can you play a part in our mission today by making a tax-deductible donation? Any amount you can spare will go straight towards covering the fight for justice, equality and freedom.
